Lars Thrane LT-4200S GMDSS Satellite Communications System
The LT-4200S GMDSS System is an Iridium satcom product supporting all GMDSS requirements for SOLAS vessels with 100% global coverage. The LT-4200S GMDSS System is fully compliant and tested towards the new GMDSS standard IEC 61097-16 (2019). The LT-4200S GMDSS System is MED / Wheelmark approved.
LT-4200S GMDSS IN SHORT
The LT-4200S GMDSS System is small and compact. No requirements for either message terminal or printer. The LT-4200S GMDSS System offers the Iridium GMDSS services, High quality Voice (3 channels), and IP Data. The built-in GNSS/GPS receiver supports tracking functionality and can output NMEA 0183 position data. The LT-4200S GMDSS System can interface to external BAM and ECDIS systems. The Antenna Unit can be installed up to 150 meters from the Control Unit.
Product Overview
The standard LT-4200S GMDSS System is offered in a version that includes control unit & bracket mount, handset & cradle, antenna unit & power cable. The standard version fulfills all the GMDSS basic requirements. Additional services like SSAS, GMDSS Alarm Panels and printer, will require the LT-3140S Interface Unit.
PERFORMANCE
The LT-4200S GMDSS system has voice and data capabilities with 100% global coverage. The LT-4200S GMDSS system consists of a control unit, handset, and antenna unit. A single cable solution connects the control unit with the antenna unit. Using a standard coaxial cable, up to 150 meters of separation between the units can be obtained, giving freedom to mount the antenna in the best possible location, with free line of sight to the satellites.
The LT-4200S GMDSS system is designed for the Iridium Certus GMDSS Safety Services and can be used as the primary satellite communication product on vessels, covering the basic communication needs in terms of connectivity between the ship and shore. The LT-4200S GMDSS system also provides voice, IP-data, vessel tracking, and other Iridium services with competitive airtime rates, making it the perfect satellite communication product on board any vessel.
The LT-4200S GMDSS System is designed and built for the demanding and rough environment at sea and with an operational temperature range from -40⁰C to +55⁰C (-40⁰F to +131⁰F)

Installation Wizard
ImageThe installation and setup of the LT-4200S GMDSS system has been made user-friendly by adding an Installation Wizard that will guide you through the initial configuration and activation of the system on the Iridium GMDSS System (IGS).
Activating Distress
Distress Alert can be activated by pushing the DISTRESS button on the front of the control unit. A Distress Alert message will be sent to the Iridium GMDSS System (IGS) and immediately forwarded to the Rescue Coordination Center (RCC).
Distress Call
The LT-4200S GMDSS System is supporting both Safety Calling (priority) and General Calling (non-priority). The terminal can be configured to automatically setup a Safety Voice call (priority: Distress) to the RCC, if the DISTRESS button has been activated
INSTALLATION
The LT-4200S GMDSS system is very easy to install. Everything is included in the box to get started with the installation and operating the LT-4200S GMDSS system. The control unit can be installed using either a bracket mount or flush mount. The antenna unit can be mounted using a pole mount for either 2.0” pipes. The control unit has a large 4.3″ TFT display, from where the system can be operated with overview and ease. The built-in webserver can be used for service and maintenance.
